Workshops and Programme 2024
This year again we are compiling an exciting programming schedule.
Here we present some of the elements and workshops that already are
fixed, including their teachers.
Song writing contest & theme concert: Legends and Tales from the Harz Mountains (or appropriate home realms).
As announced last year at the closing ceremony we are looking forward to you wielding quill and instruments. The song should not be older than 1 year or be written for this occasion. Focus is not so much "contest" but for the fun of it. The songs will be presented in a special theme concert. We will be crecording the concert - and maybe we'll get a great Live CD from that!The theme is "Legends and Tales from the Harz Mountains (or appropriate home realms). Members from England, America or other countries can of course use legends or tales from their home region. But of course songs from/about the Harz region would be especially great as this will be the 10th anniversary of FilkCONtinental at the Harz! ?
Please do send you contributions to Kirstin in advance so we can do proper planning and scheduling - that would be of great help! Of course spontaneous participation would be welcome, too...
Costume Contest! Witches, Warlocks and Creatures of Legends
Back to the roots - in ye olden times there was more to show! Franklin will moderate a costume contest, as we noticed that FilkCONtinental was a lot more colourful in its early years. So to motivate you to schlepp a slightly bigger suitcase we will be conducting a Costume Contest! Witches, Warlocks and Creatures of Legends.We will have a competent jury and also will endow a popular vote award - so everyone can participate!

I want to continue with the German Filk Choir project. On the british filk convention a few years ago I learnt to know Valerie's ensemble - and since then I wanted to found a filk choir in Germany. In march 2024 there will be/was a separate filk choir workshop weekend. Regardin my person: im an 45 years of age, trained pedagogue and with additional training as choir conductor. I am married to Alexander Lewin whom most of you already know. I am relatively new to the filk scene - usually I sing classical pieces. Looking forward to seeing you! Sibylle |
"There is nothing I love better than a country dance!" Mr. Bingley from Pride and Prejudice surely knows. A nice country dance can be learnt easily, and raises the mood with lively music. And even when the music is mellow, there is more than enough room for looks and smiles here and there. "Upon a Summer's Day" or "Heart's Ease" - the names alone invoke fun. Prior knowledge won't hurt, but is no necessity. And exertion can be moderated - those who are able to jump shall enjoyably do, but you can also reach the next spot with a simple steps.
