Jeff and Maya Bohnhoff first came into contact with filk in the 90s, but
since both of them were playing music already and Maya had just started
a career as a science fiction and fantasy author, combining the two hobbies
seemed only logical and they began to actively investigate this 'filk'.
The first filkers they met at a convention were Dr. Jane Robinson, Cynthia
McQuillin and Elizabeth Ann Scarborough. A short time later Jeff and Maya
were invited to do their first convention appearance, at Baycon, and they've
been a part of filk fandom ever since. Countless parodies of Lord of
the Rings (Come to Mordor), Harry Potter, B5, Dr. Who and the
Matrix as well as a great number of original songs (both about popular
SF/F as well as about their own SF/F topics) have been written by them
since then.
Not only does Jeff Bohnhoff produce their own musical projects, they have
also released albums by filkers like Nancy Louise Freeman and Seanan McGuire,
as well as many others, on their label MysticFig.
Aside from playing and writing scifi music Jeff and Maya also play and
write Christian music and use their music to live their belief in the (in
Germany not well known religious movement of the) Bahá'Ã.
Style-wise, Jeff and Maya are charting a rock music influenced course.
We are looking forward to a special and rocking performance by the two!
