Since we're going to be on vacation starting July 23, I ask you to treat the 20th as the closing date for the arrival of registration forms as well as payments.
If you have any questions about registration or general questions, please ask me!
Please ask Katy any questions about the youth hostel and our rooms.
And please ask Volker any questions about our technical equipment.
Besides our guests' concerts and those of our members, we have planned many workshops (music & dance), as always.
You may get more than one copy of this mail in the next few hours or days if you are on more than one list. Always look at the subject line, please. There may be different mails from us!

Hallöchen zusammen,
die Con naht mit Riesenschritten, und natürlich haben wir nach Anmeldeschluss unsere übliche Absprache mit der Jugendherberge gehabt. Dabei stellte sich heraus, dass es einige grundlegende Änderungen gibt, auf die wir uns freuen können (denke ich ;-)). Die JH hat nämlich im letzten Winter (ca. von November bis März) *komplett umgebaut* und ordentlich ranklotzen lassen. Dementsprechend haben jetzt alle Zimmer eine Dusche und ein WC mit im Raum! Na? Ist das was? Wir werden ja alle älter (*g*) und so ein bisschen mehr Luxus ohne Aufpreis gefällt uns sicher allen ganz gut.
Das bedeutet auch, dass die Anzahl der Betten pro Raum reduziert wurde (irgendwo muss der Platz ja herkommen). Das heisst, die maximale Bettenanzahl im Zimmer ist nun vier Betten (wir haben nur zwei Zimmer mit fünf Betten, und die habe ich schon verplant *g*). Es gibt auch einige Dreibettzimmer, diverse Zweier und ein paar Einer. Das Gros ist aber Vierbett-Zimmer.
Das ist vielleicht ein kleiner Wermutstropfen für grössere Gruppen von Leuten, die gern alle zusammen "hausen", aber das passt jetzt nicht mehr so ganz, da muss ich euch dann aufteilen, kann euch aber auch gern "nebeneinander" einplanen.
Eine Bitte - dies ist kein Aufruf dazu, dass ihr mich jetzt anschreibt und kleinere Zimmer erbittet, da wir sie jetzt haben ... wir haben immer noch *wenige* kleine Zimmer, und die verplane ich nach bereits vorliegenden Anfragen, Erfahrungswerten und besonderen Bedürfnissen. Wie jedes Jahr. Vertraut mir ;-)

Hi dear people,
The con is approaching really fast now, and of course after registration was closed, we had our usual prep talk with the youth hostel. That's when we learned that there is some rather drastic changes we can look forward to (I think ;-)). The youth hostel has had a massive renovation/remodeling of the rooms (they closed from November to March to have all the work done). As a result, all the rooms now have their own bathroom (shower and toilet) "en suite"! How about that? :) Good? I guess, since we're all getting older (*g*), a little more luxury without extra cost is something we all appreciate.
This also means that the number of beds in a room is reduced. (They had to get the space from somewhere ...) The maximum number of beds in a room is now four. (We have two rooms with five beds which are already spoken for.) Also, there's some three-bed-rooms, the usual two-bed-rooms and some singles. The majority of rooms, however, is four bed rooms.
For some larger groups/cliques who like to room together, this might be a little inconvenient, since I will have to split you up, but I guess it's workable and I could put you into adjacent rooms if need be.
Please note that this post is not a "We all can go and request a single room from Katy now" roll call ... small rooms are still few, and I plan according to already received inquiries, past experience and personal needs. Just like every year. Trust me ;-)

Wir haben dieses Jahr die überraschende Situation, dass wir bisher nur ca. 60 Anmeldungen haben! Vorreserviert hatten wir 120 Plätze, das heißt wir sind bis jetzt nur zu 50 % belegt!!! Deshalb haben wir uns letzes Wochenende dazu durchgerungen, dass wir eine Etage der Burg abgeben werden, es sei denn es melden sich bis zum 7. Juni noch jede Menge Teilnehmer, die es bisher einfach nur aus 'ist-ja-noch-Zeit-bis-zum-Anmeldeschluss'-Gründen nicht angemeldet haben...
Wenn ihr also gerne zur Filkcon kommen wollt, dann meldet euch am besten JETZT! Wenn ihr das Geld nicht innerhalb der 14-Tage-Frist bezahlen könnt, dann meldet euch auch, wir finden ganz sicher eine individuelle Bezahlmethode! :)

Lots of space available at FilkCONtinental!
This year we are in the surprising situation that we we currently only have ~60 registrations for con memberships. We pre-reserved 120 places, i.e. we currently only have 50% of the rooms taken!!!
Thus we decided last weekend that we will have to cancel one floor at the castle if we do not receive more registrations until june 7th, especially from the 'there-still-is-lots-of-time-till-registration' people among you...
If you want to come to FilkCONtinental but have not registered yet: please do register NOW! If you cannot pay within the regular 14 days period, just ask us - we probably can find an individual agreement! :)

Among those of you who know the 'Kleiner grüner Marsmensch' - Steve will be conducting this year's choir workshop as barbershop workshop. on 01st december we will launch the FilkCONtinental 2009 homepage at http://www.filkcontinental.de/ - and along with it the possibility to register online. And there is no need to panic: in the last years everyone who wanted to come got a place (and in the end we still had space left).
FilkCONtinental will be from 09th to 11th October 2009 on Freusburg castle. Our musical Guests of Honor will be Maya und Jeff Bohnhoff! To those among you whom do not know them yet - i can promise you that they really are great; you will be enthralled by them! :)

Dort könnt ihr nochmal alle Daten nachlesen und auch schon den PR1 mit dem Anmeldeformular downloaden. Da die Post bekanntlich langsamer ist als das Internet beginnt die Online-Registration deshalb auch erst am Montag, den 5. November!
Bitte denkt nochmal daran, dass eure Anmeldung wirklich erst mit Eingang des Geldes gültig ist! Die Bankverbindung für Deutschland steht im PR. (Die englischen und amerikanischen Konten gibt es auf Anfrage! - aber das trifft euch ja nicht ;-))

FilkCONtinental Webpage online! Online registration is starting monday!
Starting today the webpage of FilkCONtinental 2008 is online.
You can read all relevant data from there and download PR1 and the PDF (paper) registration form. As postal mail usually is slower than internet the online registration will start on monday, 05th november.
Please keep in mind that the registration only is only valid when (and not
before) both registration form *and* money have reached us. The bank account data for Germany is printed in the PR1 - we will send you the UK and US account data upon request.

After we have gotten word from several folks that it would be nice to have convention t-shirts again, we have decided at Filky Days to honour your wish :) Franklin immediately came up with a nice idea for the artwork, too!
What's still missing is the price calculation, but Anke is taking care of that now.
We'd like to know from you whether you are interested in a t-shirt and which size you'd need. We estimate a price per shirt that is no higher than 15 - 16 EUR. - The song must have been written AFTER FilkCONtinental 2006 (i.e. between October 2006 and this year's FC; of course you can write it AT the con, too *g*).
- The song can be performed by a third person; the winner would still be the writer/composer.
- The lyrics have to be original lyrics (but of course collaborations with other filkers are permitted!)

Mit ihren Songs um den König-Artus-Mythos hat sie auch bei uns in Deutschland schon eine ganze Reihe treuer Fans gefunden. Nach ihren England-Tourneen in den letzten Jahren tritt sie nun auch zum ersten Mal in Deutschland auf. Wir freuen uns auch besonders deshalb über die kanadische Kombination, da Heather auch eng mit den beiden von DANDELION WINE befreundet ist, so das man sicher auch auf die eine oder andere Kollaboration gespannt sein darf :)

We are happy to be able to present HEATHER DALE as a Special Guest of FilkCONtinental. As our Guests of Honor DANDELION WINE, Heather Dale comes from Canada to enthrall the continent with her talent.
With her songs from the King Arthur myth she already has found a number of faithful followers over here, too. After her tours through England in the last years she will come to Germany for the first time. We are especially happy about this as Dandelion Wine and Heather are close friends - thus collaborations probably can not be completely ruled out. | | | | | | | Wie auf der letzten Con angekündigt, haben wir dieses mal etwas straffere Anmelderegelungen. Nur wer bis 14 Tage nach Anmeldung auch bezahlt hat, gilt als angemeldet.
Für die Anmelder, die sich letztes Jahr direkt auf der Con angemeldet haben, haben wir dieses Frist bis zum ersten Februar-Wochenende verlängert, um auch unseren englischen Teilnehmern die gleiche Chancen zum bezahlen zu geben.

Die Con ist wieder mal voll und es gibt eine ganze Reihe Leute, die noch nicht bezahlt haben. Ich bitte euch deshalb, das in den nächsten Tagen vorzunehmen oder mir zumindest bescheid zu geben, falls es sich noch um ein paar Tage verzögert. (Einige haben das ja schon getan. :D)
Denn ansonsten rücken die Leute auf der Warteliste nach!
Noch ist die Warteliste zwar nicht sooo lang, also wer noch Ambitionen hat zu kommen, die Chancen stehen noch ziemlich gut, aber ich würde mich freuen, wenn ihr euch trotzdem an die Zahlungsfristen haltet :D
Außerdem bräuchte ich auch unbedingt eine schriftliche Anmeldung!
Wer also zwar bezahlt hat, aber noch kein gelbes Pfötchen hinter seinem Namen auf der Teilnehmerliste steht, der füllt mir bitte-bitte ein Anmeldeformular aus!
Anmeldeformulare zum Downloaden habe ich leider noch keine bekommen, aber das Online-Anmeldeformular funktioniert prima und hat zudem noch den Vorteil, dass ihr die Daten nochmal per e-mail in der Bestätigung zugeschickt bekommt :)

Notiz an die Engländer/Amerikaner:
Wie jedes Jahr könnt ihr am britischen Filkcon-Wochenende bei uns bar bezahlen. Dazu steckt ihr bitte das Geld in einen Umschlag mit euren Namen und gebt es mir oder Katy auf der Con.
Wenn ihr irgendwie die Möglichkeit habt, Geld zu wechseln, würden wir vorzugsweise Euros entgegennehmen!
Natürlich nehmen wir auch GBP wenn es gar nicht anders geht ;)
Dollars dagegen sind okay, da wir davon nochnicht so viele haben! Wir hoffen mal für alle, dass er nicht weiter abrutscht ;)

As announced on the last FilkCONtinental we have a more stringent registration regulations this time: a registration only is valid if the con fee + youth hostel payment is deposited within 14 days afer filling out the registration form.
For those who have filled out the pre-registration form directly at the con we extended the deadline until the first weekend of february, so the UK guests have a fair chance of paying in cash.
And this 1st weekend is near!
Again the convention is booked out and still there are people who have not paid yet. So please can you tell us wether you still want to / can attend, pay within the next few days or at least send a note if payment will be delayed (as some already did).
If not, people from the waiting list will move up.
The waiting list is not overly crowded, thus people who want to attend probably have quite good a chance to - but not transgressing payment deadlines is very welcome. :D
On a second not we do need a written registration. So those who have paid but don't see a yellow paw next to his/her/its name on the attendees list on the web page should send in the registration really soon.
I have not yet received PDF forms for download yet, but the online registration works fine - and has the advantage for you of an instant confirmation of your data via email. :)
These are the fees (at exchange rates of january/february 2007):

As in each of the last years you can pay at the UK filk con in cash. For this please put the money into an envelope with your name on it and give it to Katy or me.
If you have any possibility to change money, we'd very much prefer to take EURos - but if you cannot manage it we can accept GBP, too. ;)
(US) Dollars are okay, too as we do not have that much of that currency. Just let's hope the exchange rate does not skidder downhill much more. ;)

heute (also Sonntag) Abend punkt Mitternacht werde ich die
FilkCONtinental 2007 Homepage freischalten!
Zeitgleich beginnt die Anmeldeperiode für die FilkCONtinental, das
Online-Anmeldeformular darf also ausgiebig getestet werden :D
Bitte füllt das Anmeldeformular auch vollständig aus, wenn ihr euch
schon auf der FilkCONtinental 2006 vorangemeldet habt, damit wir eure
aktuellen Daten und Wünsche haben.
Neuanmelder warten bitte auf eine personalisierte Bestätigung von mir
bevor sie Geld überweisen. (Eine maschinelle Bestätigung bekommt jeder
der das Formular ausfüllt.)
Je nachdem wie schnell die freien Plätze belegt sind, wird es wieder
eine Warteliste geben. Nicht verzagen, die Chancen stehen trotzdem gut,
dass man noch teilnehmen kann wie das letzte Jahr gezeigt hat!

Hi!
Tonight (sunday), when the last hour of the day has passed (european
time, i.e. 23:00 UTC/GMT), the FilkCONtinental 2007 Homepage will be
available.
Simultaneously the registration period for FilkCONtinental is starting -
so you can stress-test the online registration form. ;-)
Please do fill out the complete form even if you attended a prior
FilkCONtinental so we get all your current data and preferences.
For those who come to FilkCONtinental for the first time: please wait
for a personal response from us before starting to send money. An
automatic response will be sent to each one ("registration received").
When we get more registrations than places available, we will place the
late ones in a waiting queue. But don't become desperate: as last year
has shown, chances are good that people on the waiting list can come too
(we even literally had a last-minute-member in 2006 - and still a few
places left).
And please do read the rules for participation!
I hope I have not forgotten anything here, and hope to meet many of you
at next year's con!
